Northeastern Technical College has partnered with SC Works to help students and residents search for jobs and compete at every stage of the recruiting and hiring process. SC Works now has a center located on NETC's main campus in Cheraw, SC.
SC Works brings employees and job seekers together. Access to free technology is an important part of their service. They help job seekers create resumes and cover letters, answer questions about their skills, and gain additional skills that improve their chances of finding a job. SC Department of Employment & Workforce reported SC Works helps over 25,000 South Carolinians find work each year.
"People think of us as the unemployment office but we are actually the employment office." Devin Hunte explained SC Works helps people get back to work and provide resources to help them do that.
SC Works staff will be available Monday and Tuesday from 9am-5pm in Room 813 on NETC Cheraw Campus to assist students and residents. Basic computer skills, resume preparation, career planning, and software training are a few of the services available.
Darin Coleman, NETC Dean of Student Life, is excited about the new partnership. "We are committed to doing everything thing possible to help our students succeed and prepare them to enter the workforce. Having access to SC Work's innovative approach and resources right here on campus is invaluable. Our students should take full advantage of this opportunity." The center is also a resource for residents. Coleman is looking forward to meeting members of the community and strengthening those relationships through this partnership.
