Northeastern Technical College's Class of 2023 practical licensed nursing graduates swept their National Council Licensure Examinations with 100 percent passing on the first attempt.
NETC's Class of 2023 LPNs consisted of 12 students: Emilee Allison, of McBee; Candace Ayers, of Dillon; Madison Brown, of Ruby; Alyssa Chapman, of Bennettsville; Jessica Corizzo, of Hartsville; Hunter Gainey, of McBee; Carlin Hubbard, of Cheraw; Tara
Quick, of Cheraw; Amanda Rodano, of Chesterfield; Kaleigh Thompson, of Hartsville; Nabi Watson Sr., of Cheraw; and Hailey Vaughn, of Pageland.
"It's truly commendable of the commitment our graduates have striving to be at the top early into their profession and to Northeastern Technical College's faculty for their dedication providing excellence in nursing education," said NETC President Dr. Kyle
Wagner. "Getting these new nurses into practice as soon as possible not only benefits the institution but also the community at large, ensuring that there are enough skilled professionals available to provide essential care and support."
The Class of 2023 is the 31st group to graduate from the program since its inception in 1993; the group took the Nightengale Pledge Nov. 30 at the Cheraw campus.
Students who enter NETC's LPN program must pass the NCLEX to receive their license to become employed as a license practical nurse. Students can graduate from the program prior to passing the exam but must pass the NCLEX to receive their license.
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. Their responsibilities include administering medication, monitoring patients' vital signs, and assisting with daily activities such as bathing and dressing.
NETC's LPN program requires 48 semester hours of instruction in a combination of classroom and clinical settings. Course work can be completed in two semesters and one summer term at which time students must pass the NCLEX to become a licensed practical nurse. Students may be required to complete prerequisite coursework for program eligibility.
