NETC Graduates 27 from Associate Degree of Nursing Program

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) hosted a drive-in Nursing Pinning Ceremony for its Nursing Graduates on Thursday, May 6. During the ceremony, 27 students graduated with their Associate Degree in Nursing and received their pins.
The ceremony took place on the Cheraw Campus in the parking lot outside the school's auditorium. Resembling a drive-in theater of the past, attendees stayed near their cars and listened to the ceremony over the speaker system, as well as on FM radio. The college also streamed the service through Facebook Live for family and friends who were unable to attend in person.

Dr. Kyle Wagner, NETC president, began the ceremony by welcoming attendees and offering the college's congratulations to the nursing class on their achievement.
Nursing graduate, Jaeishala Fox of Bennettsville, spoke to the audience on behalf of her classmates, thanking both family and friends for their support over the past few years. She then addressed her classmates, taking them for a ride down memory lane, speaking of the ups and downs of their shared experience.

"This has been an amazing nursing cohort, and we have a lot of bumps and bruises along the way, but even a global pandemic couldn't stop us, we are the resuscitators of 2021," said Fox

The Keynote Speaker for the ceremony was Bren Lowe, Administrator of McLeod Health Cheraw. During his speech, he spoke to students his personal experience and the ethics and high standards that are expected of nurses.

"The greatest asset of rural communities is the humanity of its people. Personal and familial connections drive the values that pull us together as neighbors, friends, and the community," said Lowe. "The personal impact you can make as a nurse is magnified in this micro-environment. The healing care and comfort that you provide as a nurse at a patient's bedside will have a positive ripple throughout the community."

During the ceremony, the graduates dedicated their nursing pins and lit a symbolic lamp as they recited the Nightingale Pledge in memory of the pioneer of modern nursing Florence Nightingale.

NETC's Associate Degree of Nursing graduates included Bridget Michelle Atkinson of Hartsville, Rebecca Thompson Barrineau of McBee, Emily Morgan Branton of McColl, Victoria Buchanan of Wallace, Katee Driggers of Florence, Jaeishala Niatrelle Fox of Bennettsville, Brittiny Lynn Gandy of Cheraw, Mary Steven Goldberg of Bennettsville, LaShanta Monique Grant of Darlington, Bredaisia Mashawn Harrington of Cheraw, Magan Harrison of Society Hill, Briana Jenkins of Bennettsville, Brittany Jenkins of Bennettsville, Brittany Simmons Jordan of Chesterfield, Maria Landaverde of Latta, Nyetassia Lunn of Effingham, Brooke Moody of Bennettsville, Kenitra Owens of Florence, Tabitha Clontz Pate of Chesterfield, Aubrey Layne Price of Bennettsville, Amy Caulder Roscoe of Chesterfield, Matthew James Spencer of Cheraw, Dennis Logan Stamey of Wallace, Angel Thomas of Latta, Shante' Renay Watson of Wallace, Sha'kia Williams of Bennettsville, and Matthew Williamson of Cheraw.
