Attitude is Everything

Becoming a Registered Nurse has been a lifelong goal for Stephanie Hamilton, and nothing was going to stop her. She will be walking across the stage on May 18 to receive her Associates Degree in Nursing from Northeastern Technical College.

Stephanie's journey with NETC began in 2016, before enrolling in the Registered Nurse program. In 2016, she started and completed the LPN Program. During her first semester as an LPN student, she learned about breast cancer and breast exams. Shortly after the lesson, she scheduled herself for a mammogram, and discovered that she herself had breast cancer. Stephanie started at NETC to learn how to help others, but the education she received helped save her life.

"My instructors are the best and they make sure you are prepared." The education Stephanie received gave her the confidence she needed to be successful. The positive experience as a LPN, led Stephanie to come back to NETC and continue her studies to become an RN. Studies now complete, Stephanie hopes to find work as a pediatric nurse.

Stephanie spends time educating young ladies on the importance of paying attention to changes in their bodies, and explaining how regular self-examinations can save their lives. She often shares her story about how a class at NETC led her get a mammogram, and has been invited to speak to new NETC students about her experience battling breast cancer.

"Attitude is everything, and the right one will take you far," Stephanie said. "Things will come up in life, but if you set a goal for yourself, don't stop until you achieve it."
