NETC Announces Graduation Plans

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) will hold a 2020 drive-in graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 11. Graduates in the Allied Health program will attend a ceremony at 5:00 pm. Graduates from the Workforce & Transfer programs will attend the 2nd ceremony at 7:30 pm. The services will be held outdoors at the Cheraw Campus in the 200 building parking lot near the school's auditorium. Tuesday, June 16, is the alternative date in the event of inclement weather.

Student and public safety is the priority of the NETC administration. For this reason, only two cars will be allowed per graduate, and all guests must remain in their vehicles during the ceremonies. NETC will broadcast both ceremonies on FM radio and Facebook Live for supporters who are unable to attend in person.

NETC's postponed its May commencement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before finalizing plans on when to reschedule, NETC sent out a survey to solicit feedback from their graduates about how they wanted to observe their accomplishments. Results from the survey revealed overwhelming support for the college to have a ceremony that followed the safety guidelines established by the state.

The college explored options that would adhere to social distancing recommendations while allowing the college and supporters to recognize graduates publically.

"This has been an unprecedented time in our history, but we feel strongly that our graduates need to be celebrated and recognized for their accomplishments," said Dr. Kyle Wagner, NETC President. "These graduates have shown us their strength while overcoming obstacles related to the crisis. They proved they are truly dedicated to improving their lives in our communities and that they have exactly what it takes to be successful. We are proud of all of our graduates, and can't wait to see where their adventure takes them."
