NETC Representatives Attend SC Technical College System Trustee Orientation

Northeastern Technical College was well represented at the recent South Carolina Technical College System Trustee Orientation and Workshop, with Area Commission Vice-Chair Shaquite Pegues and Area Commissioner Carren Hutto in attendance.

The orientation, held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the SC Technical College System Office in Columbia, brought together newly appointed and returning trustees from across the system for a full-day program focused on strengthening governance knowledge, system awareness, and leadership capacity. The event opened with networking and coffee before a series of sessions led by system leaders covering key operational areas including government relations, human resources, communications, information technology services, finance, apprenticeship programs, economic development, academic affairs, and legal affairs. Attendees also participated in a system facility tour and engaged in a lunch conversation featuring greetings from SCATCC leadership and an overview of the system from Dr. Tim Hardee, President of the SC Technical College System.

The agenda emphasized the critical role trustees and commissioners play in guiding the mission and strategic direction of technical colleges across South Carolina, with targeted sessions designed to expand understanding of statewide initiatives such as Apprenticeship Carolina and economic development partnerships, as well as the system's academic and workforce priorities.

The participation of Pegues and Hutto reflects Northeastern Technical College's continued commitment to engaged, informed leadership at both the local and state level. Their involvement ensures NETC remains actively connected to system-wide initiatives and that the college's perspective is represented in conversations shaping the future of technical education in South Carolina.
