Make your mark with new NETC training initiative.

Nearly one year into the Covid pandemic, Northeastern Technical College is continuing to take huge strides to ensure that communities in Chesterfield, Marlboro, and Dillon counties don't fall victim to issues stemming from life during and after a global pandemic.

With an increased focus on delivering short-term workforce certification programs, the provision of laptops loans, free internet to all students, and now with the availability of transportation through PDRTA, NETC continues to improve access to quality college education coupled with employable work skills for all members of the community NETC serves.

"There are now more opportunities than ever for citizens of Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon County to afford college through scholarships, grants, and financial aid. Our mission is to train the workforce and ensure that students are earning relevant certifications and degrees in career fields that are in high-demand in our service area," said NETC President Kyle Wagner. "We have also developed paid-internship opportunities for students in some programs. We want our students to 'Make Their Mark' by achieving their career goals, and in the long run, make a positive change in our community."

This month, SC Governor McMaster provided an additional $8M to the Technical College System in the form of student grants providing up to $2,500 in scholarships to students enrolled in short-term, high-demand, workforce programs. NETC will offer scholarships to students who enroll in Nursing Assistant and Phlebotomy, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Logistics, Welding, and Manufacturing Programs. These programs start February 15.

During the pandemic, all of the communities in the NETC service area have seen an increase in the unemployment rates. This grant is away to help citizens gain valuable work skills to re-enter the workforce in the service area.

"With every challenge the community has endured during this pandemic, new opportunities have developed through the use of new technologies, innovations, state and federal funding all to provide a quality education to our citizens," Wagner continued. "Our desire is to serve the community and eliminate barriers for all students, that's our 'mark,' and we're asking future students the same, 'are you ready to believe in yourself, and make your mark"?
