Dr. Melisa Johnson

About Dr. Johnson

Melisa Johnson is passionate about education and how important it is in one's life. She has been an instructor at NETC since 2003 and enjoys the variety of classes that she teachings, stating no two days are alike. She enjoys seeing her students succeed and knowing that she helped make a difference in someone's life. She also enjoys being outside doing yard work, walking, reading and spending time with her family, friends and two basset hounds.

Education & Work Experience

Ms. Johnson earned a Secretarial Science Diploma from King's College, an Associate in Accounting from NETC, a Bachelor of Science in business management from Gardner-Webb University, a Master of Education from Francis Marion University, and a Certificate in Higher Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina. She was named the Governor's Professor of Year in 2010 and Educator of the Year for 2007-2008. At NETC, she is an assistant dean and business and computer technology instructor. Before coming to NETC, she worked in various accounting, bookkeeping and office management roles for Chesterfield County School District and Chesterfield Manufacturing.

Class Environment

Students in Ms. Johnson's class will obtain the technical and soft skills to be successful in a clerical position, including medical and legal offices. Students will also be encouraged to set goals and strive to reach those goals. Ms. Johnson believes in every student who walks through the doors of NETC and will go above and beyond to help them reach their educational pursuits.
